Hard Pathways Don’t Have to Set Your Limits!

hardpathways

If you drive a car, have you ever done more than 30 in a 30 zone? Or more than 40 in a 40? Or even more than 70 in a 70? You rebel!

Have you ever been flashed by a speed camera and had points put on your licence? Have you ever totted up so many points that you’ve been banned?

If you have, join the club! The club that I’m a gold member of! Cos it’s happened to me not once, not twice, but three times! Are you not feeling so guilty now?

One time, before I got banned, I used what you might call a ‘work around’ that we did when it was paper licences. Do you remember them? Before I went to court, I reported that I’d lost my licence and ordered a duplicate! So, when they took mine off me, I had another one to use! That’s one way to dodge a driving ban!

If you were good at playing innocent, this was perfect for those times when you got pulled over and they asked to see your licence… unless they radioed in, that is! Then you’d have to do a different ‘work around’! You’d bomb it, ‘around’ the copper’s car in front of you!

Nowadays though, I use a legit ‘work around’ to dodge a ban. I press the speed limiter button in my car! Just shows you how reformed I am!  Have you heard of ‘em? I hadn’t until I got my most recent car. You can drive with it off but cos I do loads of miles, I often turn mine on, especially when I’m doing my big trips.

Clever thing it is…there’s a sensor in the middle of the windscreen, at the top, that picks up the speed limit from the signs on the side of the road, that sends a signal to the engine to control it.

So, when I drive through a 30, a 40 or a 70 zone, and the likes, I can’t go above that speed. The limiter on my car is set at those limits, to keep me back!

It’s just like us this, you know. Cos sometimes those tough times we’ve gone through have set those limits on us! Limits that keep us back!

Maybe this has happened to you.

BUT hard pathways don’t have to set your limits!

Paul, a bloke in the Book of Books, had a tough time or two. But with God pitching in, he was able to say, ‘I’ve forgotten what is behind me. And I push hard to what is ahead of me’. (Philippians 3:12-14)

What about you? Maybe you’ve had a tough time or two. It could be that you were badly hurt by someone you trusted. Maybe you got stuck in a dark place and this has set limits on you!

Look: Whatever has done that to you, know that God can do what’s needed to take those limits off you!

This is His kind of ‘work around’ And unlike mine, His kind is always 100% legit!

Listen: Hard pathways don’t have to set your limits!
