Another Year Begins!

Happy new year!

I find myself wondering about God’s perspective. That makes my brain hurt because our God is outside of time! We love to measure time into seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades. We are pretty obsessed with time, I think!

Do you hear people comment that they might be getting older on the outside, older physically; but that they are just the same, very young, on the inside? Is that because you and I are, in fact, eternal beings and our spirits don’t age in the same way as our bodies? Deep, eh?

I am fascinated by the idea that our God is the great I AM, who always was, and is now, and always shall be. He never ages. He is the eternal One and yet He is younger than me in His approach and attitude…things formed at creation are still a delight to Him every day because he never tires or gets jaded or cynical.

He never sleeps, but we do, so we can relate to His Word giving importance to every morning:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
(Lamentations 3: 22-23)

Take hold of this every day in 2025!

You will understand, I think, when I say that my love (even for those I love the most) can sometimes be a bit tired, a bit strained, a bit stale.

Not so God’s love and mercy and grace for you. They are new every morning and that means fresh and vital and full of energy and purpose and pleasure. Incredible!

The Lord will be full of passion for your good every day in 2025. What a year it can be!

I won’t say Happy new year again, but I will pray that as you soak in His timeless and tireless mercy and love, you will prosper in every way that truly matters in 2025.
